The Thoroughbred Improvement Program pays Stallion Awards to the owner (or lessee) of a recognized Ontario Sire.
For 2024, $320,000 has been allocated for distribution through the Ontario Stallion Awards Program payable in two categories. It should be noted that this program and annual budgets are subject to annual review and revision.
Ontario Stallion Awards are payable in two categories:
In 2024, $200,000 will be distributed on the basis of points earned by the progeny of the stallion during the calendar year ending December 31st. Points will be earned in Allowance through to Stakes level races run in Ontario and Graded/Group Stakes races in the rest of Canada and worldwide.
For 2024, a total of $120,000 will be awarded to the Ontario Sires whose eligible Ontario conceived progeny achieved the highest North American earnings during the calendar year ending December 31st.
1st Place $40,000 2nd Place $25,000 3rd Place $15,000
The top 1st Year Crop Ontario Sire Award (1st Place only) is 10% of eligible Ontario conceived progeny earnings to a cap of $40,000
