Membership

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society is a national organization representing breeders of Thoroughbred horses in Canada. There are division offices in  British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Visit the CTHS National Office for more details on memberships. The membership year is January 1 to December 31.

The CTHS aims to ensure a viable future for its members by providing assistance and representation within the Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.


Becoming a member of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society brings with it the many programs offered to Ontario-breds. Benefits of registering foals as Canadian-bred will allow for entry into restricted stakes, breeders & owners supplements, stallion bonuses, and numerous other programs.


As a member of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society you will receive benefits which include:

  • Annual subscription to Canadian Thoroughbred Magazine
  • Insurance: $25,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and access to reduced rates for Farm and Horse Insurance
  • Access to Group Travel Insurance at Special Rates with Ingle International
  • Ability to vote at meetings, hold office and notice to amend bylaws
  • Access to provincial publications, newsletters and ability to attend AGM
