Frac Dancer Dances away with the Clarendon Stakes

TORONTO, December 2, 2023 – Frac Dancer hung on gamely to take the co-featured $150,000 Clarendon Stakes, on Saturday at Woodbine.
Sent off as the 3-1 second choice in the race for Ontario-bred or Ontario-sired 2-year-olds, Frac Dancer, with Sahin Civaci aboard, broke sharply and was immediately confronted on the front end by Competitive Touch, as the trio of Cooler Man, Meko Makee, and 9-5 choice Midnight Mascot took position in the second flight through an opening quarter reached in :22.58.
The spirited tussle between Frac Dancer and Competitive Touch carried on after a half in :45.31 as the duo looked to separate themselves from their pursuers heading into the turn for home. Frac Dancer gained the upper hand coming off the turn and powered past Competitive Touch, as Midnight Mascot found daylight and attempted to track down his rival.
Ahead by a half-length at the stretch call, Frac Dancer dug in along the rail and was able to fend off Midnight Mascot by a neck for his second win in as many starts. Gun Court rallied to best Garofoli by a neck for third.
Competitive Touch, Meko Makee, and Cooler Man rounded out the order of finish.
The final time was 1:10.96.
Civaci, who won last year’s race with Armstrong, was impressed by the rookie’s gumption down the lane.
“There were a lot of speed horses, so that was one concern. We were just going to pop out of the gate and play the break and see where we are. We popped out very well. I kept him three (paths) off the rail just to keep him not too eager. Down the lane, when I asked him, he kicked on really well.”
A son of Frac Daddy-Dancing On Fire, bred and owned by Phoenix Racing, Frac Dancer, at 9-1, won his debut, taking a 5 ½-furlong Tapeta race in front-running fashion on October 15 at Woodbine.
Trained by Mike De Paulo, the roan colt returned $8.10 for the Clarendon win.

- Click CREATE ACCOUNT. Enter your name, email, create a password, tick the “I have read …” box and click CREATE ACCOUNT button. Please keep your username and password in a safe place. You are financially responsible for all bids placed by a user that is logged in with this username and password.
2. REGISTER TO BID
- Click LOGIN. Enter your username and password.
- Click REGISTER TO BID
- Verify your contact information is accurate. The CTHS will need to contact you if you are the successful bidder!
- Fill in credit card information. WE WILL NOT CHARGE YOUR CARD FOR ANY SUCCESSFUL BIDS. This process is used to verify our bidders identity only.
- Click the box next to “Agree to Terms & Conditions of Sale” and “I am 18 years of age or older”
- Click REGISTER.
Now you are ready to bid!
3. HOW TO BID
Always review your bid before hitting the BID button.
- Once bidding opens, click the BID button on the desired horse’s profile.
- “Next Bid” indicates what the next bid needs to be in order to be the next highest bidder. Bidding is set in increment amounts.
$1,000 - $3,000 = $250.00
$3,000 and up = $500.00
- If two bidders bid at the same time, the first bid that reaches the auction computer will be given the amount – the second bidder will be asked to bid the next available amount.
- Please review your bid BEFORE you click the BID button. CLICK ONCE to place a bid. Your bid will be visible the next time your page refreshes.
MAXIMUM BID OR AUTOMATIC BIDDING (Recommended)
- With automatic bidding you can enter your maximum bid, then sit back and watch. When you set your Maximum Bid, the auction automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid, only if another bidder is bidding against you. Your maximum bid is kept confidential from other bidders.
- The system only bids on your behalf as necessary to keep you as the high bidder. If there are no opposing bidders, your bid will not advance.
- If another bidder has a higher maximum, you will be outbid.
- If the Lot closes for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay.
- Placing a maximum bid keeps you from having to come back to re-bid every time another bid is placed.
- Using the single BID button will not be as quick as using the Automatic Bid.
- Due to slow internet connections, we cannot guarantee last second bids will get through every time. We strongly suggest utilizing the max/automatic bidding to ensure your bids are not delayed.
EXTENDED BIDDING
The auction will have a staggered close. If a bid is placed on a lot during the last minute on the time clock, the auction will go into extended bidding for that lot and another minute will be added to the clock to allow the under-bidder to respond. Bidding for that lot will not close until a minute passes without a bid being placed.
If no bid is placed on a lot during the last minute of the auction, that lot will close.
